If I have an addiction I would have to say it is bread. I love a warm piece of bread almost as much as I love the air I breathe! I remember how much I would love coming home from school and enjoying fresh bread my Mom had baked that day. So it is no surprise that bread making became a thing of joy for me. But kneading bread is not my strong suit and so I'm always searching out easy No Knead bread recipes. Through much searching I found one I liked and tweaked it to make it better and I have found my favorite! Here is what you need:
3 Cups of Bread Flour (You can use All Purpose Flour but your bread may not be as soft)
1/4 Teaspoon of Instant Yeast
1 1/8 Teaspoon of Fine Ground Sea Salt
A Tiny Pinch of Sugar
1 1/2 Cups of Hot Water
In a large bowl pour in your flour, then add in your yeast and give it a whisk, next add your salt & sugar and whisk again. Now add your hot water, this can be hot from the tap, you do not want it boiling, so about 90-100 degrees is perfect. Now mix everything together slowly with a large spoon. This dough is going to be sticky and wet so you probably don't want to do it by hand but you can. Now once everything is incorporated you are going to cover your bowl with saran wrap/cling wrap and leave it on the counter for 3 hours.
Once the 3 hours are up you want to take your dutch oven or combo cooker and spray it with cooking spray, you can also skip this and use parchment paper. If you want to use parchment paper you will not put it in the pan until it has preheated. Ok now set your oven to 450 degrees and put your pan in the cold oven and let it preheat with the oven. Now you are going to flour your counter top a wee bit and scrape your dough onto the counter. Next you want to sprinkle a tiny bit of flour on the top and then fold your dough edges all in to the center to form a bit of a ball. Take a large clean bowl, if you are using parchment paper to bake you will place it in the bowl and then you will place your dough in the bowl on the paper. If you are not using parchment paper you will spray the bowl with cooking spray and then place the dough folded side down in the bowl. Either way you are now going to cover the bowl with a dish towel and let it sit for half an hour.
Your half an hour is up and your pan is mega hot, carefully remove it from the oven. Now this is the hardest part of it all! You can leave your dough on the parchment paper and place the whole thing in the pan, or you can spray your pan with cooking spray and drop your dough in carefully without burning yourself. Place your lid on and place it in the oven for 40 minutes.
It has been 40 minutes time to check your bread. Remove the lid, if it is at your desired color then you can take it from the over, very carefully remove it from the pan without burning yourself, I usually just dump mine onto the counter and then place it on a wire rack for 1 hour before cutting. If it wasn't quite brown enough for you when you checked it you can leave it in the oven a little longer with the lid off checking it every 3-5 minutes. Make sure to keep an eye on it because it will brown super fast.
And that is it! Super easy, crusty, yummy bread! Once you've made this a time or two you will have it down pat!
