I am 45 years old, and I think that about the age of 40 is when we are officially grownups. I look around at my friends and see that within the past couple of years we are all making big changes and taking on big challenges. Some may say this is what Mid-life crisis looks like, but I don't think so. When I hear mid-life crisis I think of men with new earrings and sports cars, women with too much perfume and a younger man. I think it is what happens when we finally realize we are adults. But I think reaching adulthood just happened. I see many friends my age having children, buying their forever home, starting new businesses and completing their education, myself included.

I dropped out of high school at 16, I took the GED several several times but failed the math portion repeatedly un til I finally passed and received my GED about 20 years after I left school. I'll be 46 next month and in December I will have my first Associates Degree, I will go on a few months receive an additional Associates in March. From there I will transfer schools and get started on my Bachelors. It has been unbelievably hard! The highest level of formal education I had was the 8th grade. College is designed for those just coming out of school and up to date on things. It has been a very hard struggle because of that. Even things as easy as essay writing has been hard because I never wrote and actual essay before, I never heard of APA or MLA formats, etc. Today I was looking over my grades and saw behind my name the words" Grad Pending" and started to cry. I was accomplishing the impossible! I never ever thought I, ME, Angie would be a college graduate!
